I’m going to start blogging some quick posts on some of the favourite tools. I’m going to leave the term ‘tools’ pretty broad for now because hopefully it will include various things I find useful, not just nerdy stuff.

So, the first one is WinDirStat. “WinDirStat is a disk usage statistics viewer and cleanup tool for Microsoft Windows”. It’s not something you’re going to use every day but when you get to the point where you’re scratching your head and saying, “where did all my disk space go?”, this is the one for you.

Forget the windows cleanup wizards and individually looking at the size of directories, just point this at the drive and come back after a cup of coffee to see a wonderful graphical colour-coded representation of your drive and all the stats to go with it. Now start freeing up some space.

The best thing about WinDirStat is it’s free!!

So, in conclusion, WinDirStat – one hell of a tool!
